P N Panicker National Reading Mission

The objective of P N Panicker National Reading Mission App is to encourage students/ teachers/

faculty members/ librarians/ general public to see reading as a tool to build their knowledge and

capability. It motivates the students to have better and deeper understanding on various topics

through various competitions and webinars.

There is now increasing acceptance of the fact that a country’s social and economic progress greatly

depends on its people having access to the vast expanse of knowledge through reading. This is all

the more relevant to India where the youth constitute a major portion of its total population.

Reading is a precise process. It involves an interaction between thoughts and language. It is a

process to understand the literal as well as the hidden meaning of what the writer was attempting to

convey. It helps to expand the frontiers of knowledge, scholarship and intellect. Today, reading has

social, academic, economical and survival significance.

Keeping this in view, the P N Panicker Foundation has been observing the Reading Day, Reading

Week, and Reading Month Celebrations to achieve the objective of promoting the culture of reading

since 1996.

analytical and problem solving skills.
